Campsie bus crash, Sydney: Bus driver fighting for life after horror crash on Seventh Avenue

A bus driver is fighting for his life and a child among more than ten passengers is injured when two buses collide.

The crash happened on Seventh Avenue in Campsie, south-west Sydney, at 4.20pm on Wednesday, with emergency services rushing to the scene.

NSW Police say one bus rear-ended another, causing the second bus to crash into three parked cars. The cause of the incident remains unknown.

A bus driver, a 63-year-old woman and a female passenger were trapped in one vehicle as firefighters pried open a shattered windshield to rescue them.

The female bus driver was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

The female passenger in her 50s suffered serious spinal injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

The second bus driver, a 63-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Concord Hospital in stable condition.

Twelve other passengers, including a child, were taken to various Sydney hospitals in a stable condition, while paramedics treated at least 24 others at the scene.

Firefighters and rescue teams were seen removing parts of the damaged windshield to evacuate passengers.
