A high school teacher has been exposed secretly filming the skirts of female students after a teenage student crashed into a whiteboard and found a hidden cell phone pointed at her.

Physics teacher Eric Wong, 28, is due to be sentenced next week after admitting to twice filming someone’s genitals without permission at Cammeraygal High School in Crows Nest on Sydney’s north coast.

According to court documents, NSW police officers found up to 300 videos and 90 photos of girls in school uniform in his classroom, including “up-skirt” photos and images targeting their breasts.

The Sydney Morning Heraldciting a police fact sheet, reported video examples of Wong “(walking) next to or behind the female students and talking to or observing them as they performed their science experiment … discreetly positions his mobile phone in position to filming genitals.’

“Some video files show the accused talking to the female victims and then glancing at his mobile phone (which) is then moved, to ensure that he captures said parts of the female body.”

Court documents showed that a 16-year-old girl became suspicious when she knocked a cell phone out of its hiding place and “formed the opinion … (it) had been deliberately placed in an upward position filming her.”

Students at the school received a letter from Principal Kathy Melky three days before Christmas stating that a ‘serious criminal charge has been filed by the NSW Police against a member of staff’.

Mr Wong’s LinkedIn profile shows that he spent six years as a chemistry and physics teacher for the NSW Department of Education and is a graduate of the University of Sydney.

Wong will be sentenced next Wednesday. The maximum sentence for filming someone’s genitals without permission is five years.

The court heard that police found some 90 videos of Wong filming female students from Cammeraygal High School (school pictured)
