Camila Mendes revealed this week that she spent years battling an eating disorder in a candid interview on the Going Mental Podcast.

The 28-year-old actress explained that she struggled with body image issues since childhood and found her issues worsened when she began filming the first season of the hit TV show Riverdale in 2017.

“When you are in your early 20s, your body is fluctuating. My body had not yet settled into itself. I was looking at myself, falling apart. My stomach, you know, my arms, my chin, anything, would haunt me,” she added.

Camila, who played Veronica Lodge on Riverdale, said her personal struggles off-camera interfered with her work as an actress, adding that it “really screwed up your process.”

However, the Do Revenge star sought help and worked with a nutritionist to overcome her fears, including aversion to carbs.

“I was very afraid of eating carbs, and what would happen is I’d avoid it for a long period of time, and then I’d binge and eat a bunch and then purge,” the Palm Springs star said.
