Melbourne Storm sustain BIG injury as gunrunner Cameron Munster is forced to retire during NRL season opener against Parramatta Eels

The Melbourne Storm have suffered the worst possible start to the new NRL season after gunrunner Cameron Munster was sent off during the first half of their clash with Parramatta.

Munster, who was subject to widespread speculation about his future last year, committed to the Storm and snubbed the Dolphins in a big boost for Craig Bellamy’s team.

But in scenes that will be of great concern to Storm fans, Munster had to leave CommBank Stadium with what appeared to be a compound fracture, although the nature of his injury has yet to be confirmed by the club.

Shortly after he walked off the main stage, the Eels scored the first try of the season through Will Penisini.
