Cameron Munster shared a personal family situation that followed him all the way to the NRL final.

Melbourne Storm gun Munster is hoping to secure his team a place in the grand final when they take on Cronulla Sharks this weekend. He led the team to the minor premiership this year.

But off the football pitch, the five-eighth has fulfilled the role of supportive husband and father after his wife Bianca gave birth to their third child seven weeks prematurely.

“My wife had a little complication, so the baby had to come a little early, but that’s life, unfortunately,” he said of his daughter’s birth. “They’re both fine, so there’s no problem there.”

Munster is caring for the couple’s two children while their daughter is in the hospital, and he says he gets help from his mother.

“My mother is here, she’s here for a month. I’m a mama’s girl and she helps me with the housework, which is ideal.”

Asked if the off-field ordeal has affected his game, Munster replied: ‘A lot of people know me, there’s not much going on on the work floor, so for me it’s not a big problem.’

Munster and his wife Bianca announced the birth of their daughter Blake last month in a loving post on social media.

“We are so excited to announce the grand entrance of our new family member, Blake Maria Munster, 7 weeks early,” Munster posted on social media.

The couple became parents in 2021 with the birth of son Jaxon, and last year they welcomed their second son Jagger.

The happy announcement prompted a flood of messages from footballers and friends, including Latrell Mitchell and Ryan Papenhuyzen.

The missed opportunity to win the 2021 championship still rankles with Munster and has him looking to make amends for his mistakes in this year’s NRL final.
