Big Hit: Cameron’s first big break was in the outrageous comedy The Mask opposite funny man Jim Carrey.

The movie established her as a leading lady, and as nightclub singer Tina Carlyle, she even showed off her vocal chops.

It followed the story of a hapless bank worker (Jim) who becomes an eccentric and maniacal green-skinned superhero after wearing a magical wooden mask.

The film grossed over $351 million on a budget of $18–23 million, making it the most profitable film based on a comic book up to that point.

Drew Barrymore produced the film through his Flower Films production company and cast his old friend.

But Kate, who played journalist Iris in the romantic comedy, said People: ‘I read something about it, but it’s the first time I’ve heard of it.

When asked if the sex scenes were uncomfortable, she added: “It was easier because the boundaries were clear.” Like if it’s someone you don’t know and you’re like ‘hmm maybe’ but you know, ‘no’, in this case we’re like ‘we already did that’,” she laughed.
