Cam Norrie buoyed by family support as the British No. 1 attempts to defeat Italian clay court player Lorenzo Musetti to reach the fourth round for the first time at the French Open

  • Mama and sister will be at Roland Garros as he tries to make it to the fourth round
  • Cam Norrie will start as a slight underdog against world No. 18 Lorenzo Musetti

Cam Norrie hopes his family’s reunion in London will spur him on to greater success, starting with the third round of the French Open on Friday.

The UK No. 1’s parents, David and Helen, have moved to the capital from Auckland to be closer to him and sister Bronwen, who also lives in London.

Mum and sister will be at Roland Garros as he tries to make the fourth round of the French Open for the first time, taking on Italian clay court player Lorenzo Musetti.

“It’s good to have them around and it makes it so much easier,” says Norrie, who didn’t see his parents for two years during the lockdown.

“In the weeks I’m off I can interact with them a bit more and that can definitely have a positive impact on my life off the field.”

Norrie will start as a slight underdog against world No. 18 Musetti, 21, who defeated him in Barcelona last month.

But Norrie is gradually improving his Grand Slam record, including that semifinal at Wimbledon last year when he lost to Novak Djokovic.

“Getting past the third round for the first time at Wimbledon was a huge milestone for me,” he said.

“There is still a long way to go, but it will be good to have another crack here in the third round.”
