Calvin Harris reveals he takes a photo of Rod Stewart on stage for motivation… prompting Roman Kemp to give the questionable DJ a photo of himself as ‘backup’

Calvin Harris has revealed that he takes a photo of Rod Stewart onstage as he performs for encouragement.

The Scottish DJ, 39, hilariously shared how his unique motivational tactic came about when he chatted with Alex Jones and Roman Kemp on The One Show on Thursday.

His revelation prompted 30-year-old Roman to gift Calvin a photo of himself as “back-up” for Rod, but he seemed very unconvinced, causing the hosts to burst into laughter.

Calvin first shared how he takes a photo of Rod, 78, on stage with him and posts him on his DJ decks for motivation, and the photo was spotted during his residency in Ibiza.

Presenter Alex, 46, first said: ‘We’ve been told that Calvin has someone by his side while this is all going on, someone to motivate you. Do you want to share with the group?’

To which Calvin revealed, “Well, it’s a picture of Rod Stewart from the ’80s. There was a show that didn’t go so well.

“I turned to Connor, who takes pictures, and said, ‘What would Rod Stewart do?’ and he said ‘he would smile and point at people’, and I did that for the rest of the show, and I felt great, just smiling and pointing at people.

“And from then on we have this little picture of him, when things don’t go so well, just smile and point.”

Calvin described Rod as a “legend” as he poured out his inspiration, before being asked by Alex, “If Rod didn’t make it, who would be your backup?”

But Calvin repeated his tactics, saying, “Another picture of Rod, another picture of Rod. It’s only Rod, don’t ask me why, it’s only Rod.’

However, host Roman seemed undeterred by Calvin’s insistence that he would only take a picture of Rod onstage, presenting him with a framed photo of himself.

Roman said, “I just wanted to tempt your mind, and I thought just in case you could have a picture of me. That’s yours to keep, you can have that. You do what you want with that.’

Calvin looked skeptical and surprised at the gift when he asked Roman, “Did you bring this especially?” to which the presenter confirmed that he did.

Calvin, however, was completely unconvinced and responded hilariously, “Let’s see where it ends.”

Roman and Alex, as well as members of the crew, burst out laughing at Calvin’s dubious response.

Elsewhere, Calvin has been busy planning his upcoming nuptials to his fiancé Vick Hope.

A source told The Sun that Calvin and Vick have set their hearts on Ibiza for the big day because it’s a “very special place for both of them.”

The couple first met in 2007 when Calvin was an up-and-coming DJ with his 1980s hit Acceptable, but Vick – who was 19 at the time – rejected his advances when he made a move.

She told You Magazine, “It’s something we had a laugh about on our first real date. We still laugh about it now.’

In a rare insight into their romance, Vick recently revealed that the couple enjoy cooking “nutritious” meals together in the evenings, with both sticking to an organic, vegetable-rich diet.

Although their busy schedules don’t allow them to sit down to dinner until 9:30 p.m., Vick said she loves that they take the time to cook and eat and talk together.

‘Cooking something nutritious together without feeling rushed is precious. I lived alone for many years in a small flat in Hackney, East London,’ she said.

“I loved it, but I was constantly rushing out or eating in front of the television. Now I have found a little more rhythm and respect for how beautiful those times can be.’

Living with Calvin over the past year has changed Vick’s priorities in life, she admitted, saying, “I still have a lot of career goals, but now I have strong ambitions in my personal life too.”

“I want to live a life that is peaceful and happy, surrounded by loved ones, and making time for them,” she admits of her shifting priorities.

“These things were never high on my list of priorities before, but they’ve taken over now. That’s more important than being on television all the time.’
