Callum Wilson reveals he wrote ‘packing for Qatar’ in his diary FOUR MONTHS ago despite his injury woes…as the Newcastle star claims England ‘100 per cent’ can win the World Cup
Callum Wilson has revealed that he wrote in his diary four months ago that he was ‘packing for Qatar’ this weekend.
The Newcastle striker has always been confident he would be part of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, despite missing a month this season with a hamstring injury.
And after returning to score four times in October, Wilson was included in the 26-man squad.

“I was going through my diary the other day and I had written on Sunday 13: ‘Suit for Qatar,'” the 30-year-old told the BBC. Soccer podcast for soccer players.
“I just feel the power of visualization, those positive affirmations you give with it, all that law of attraction. Four weeks ago everyone said to me: ‘Where are you going during the winter break?’. I would say, ‘Qatar’. They must have thought, ‘Has this man been deceived?’ I focused on that goal and I’m so proud of myself.”
Wilson, who has been suffering from Covid-19 for the past two weeks, has also spoken about the moment he found out he was going to the World Cup.

“I was on the training field and only worked because I had the corona virus,” he said. “I came in and the guys said, ‘Cal, haven’t you heard anything?’ Tripps (Kieran Trippier) is sitting there smiling, so I think, ‘He must have had a message,’ but I had nothing!
“I had a few WhatsApp messages but none came from anyone other than England. I then went to the archives… it’s been a long time since I was on the squad, but the message was there.
“I was told before it was allowed to be announced, but I kept a straight face. The guys said, ‘You’re not really smiling and you’re not really disappointed’. I told them I hadn’t received anything yet. But I was delighted, over the moon. I believe we can go there and win it one hundred percent.”
