Heartbroken girlfriend reveals tragic voicemail Australian surfer Callum Robinson left before he was killed and dumped down a well alongside his brother Jake in Mexico

The heartbroken girlfriend of an Australian who was allegedly executed along with his brother during a surfing trip in Mexico has revealed harrowing details about a voicemail he left and which she now listens to on repeat.

Callum Robinson, 33, and his 30-year-old brother Jake were traveling with their American boyfriend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, in the Baja California region when they disappeared on April 27.

The remains of the three men were found Saturday at the bottom of a well about 2 km from Rosarito, where they were believed to be staying in an Airbnb.

They each had one gunshot wound to the head.

Three Mexican nationals – Jesus Gerardo Garcia Cota, his girlfriend Ari Gisel Garcia Cota and his brother Christian Alejandro Garcia – were arrested on Wednesday and charged with kidnapping.

Jake Robinson, who worked as a doctor in Perth, had flown to the US two weeks earlier to visit Callum, who lived in San Diego with his girlfriend Emily Horwath.

On Tuesday, Ms Horwath shared a voicemail from Callum on Instagram, with the caption: ‘I’m going to repeat this.’

In the voicemail message, Callum said: ‘Happy Tuesday, good morning! It’s 11.11 and all I think about is you.

“I just wanted to drop you a line and say, hello honey, I hope you’re having a phenomenal start to your day.

“I feel a big grin on your face today for some reason. I hope you are full of positivity and smiles. Cheers baby, I miss you.”

Mexican police have revealed they have found three abandoned tents splattered with blood at a campsite south of the city of Ensenada.

Authorities also found shell casings at the campsite where the three men were last seen. Further investigation led them to the well, about 2 km away.

Three bodies, as well as a fourth body believed to be a local farmer, were discovered at the bottom of the pit on the cliff.

It took rescuers about 20 hours to extract the bodies from the well, with physical characteristics, including hair and clothing, matching the three missing men.

Baja California Attorney General María Andrade Ramírez said the murder investigation would investigate whether the men were killed in an alleged robbery.

She said the alleged thieves were likely interested in the gentleman’s truck, a white Chevrolet Colorado pickup, and specifically the tires.

“When they attempted to obtain the vehicle, the victims resisted the robbery. The robbers were armed with a firearm and apparently shot the victims,” said Ms. Andrade Ramírez.

Ms García Cota, 23, reportedly had a mobile phone belonging to the missing men.

Police were able to make the arrests when a phone from one of the Australian brothers’ phones was turned on and pinged a cell tower in the area.

The style of the executions has raised fears locally over the possible involvement of drug cartels that are widespread in the region (photo: the trio's vehicle was later found burnt out in the Santo Tomás area)

According to local news sources, all three suspects were allegedly found in possession of an assortment of methamphetamines and other illegal drugs.

The alleged murders have not been linked to organized crime, but investigators have yet to rule this out.

Instagram posts Callum shared just before the trio disappeared showed them relaxing on Rosarito Beach, where they had surfed and camped while traveling along the west coast of Mexico.

The last image on Callum’s Instagram showed the group reaching San Miguel beach in Ensenada before disappearing without a trace.

A chilling photo showed their white Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck on a beach in Rosarito, which police believe was the same vehicle later found burned out.

“…and it begins,” Callum had captioned the image, alongside a Mexican flag emoji, at the start of the trio’s doomed journey.

The Robinson brothers had attended Coachella before traveling to Mexico to surf.

Callum was based in the US, where he was an accomplished lacrosse player known as ‘the Big Koala’.

His brother Jake worked in regional hospitals across Australia.

Mr. Rhoad worked in technology services in San Diego.
