Death of Callala Bay: Tragic Tradie died alone, still holding the power cable that killed him under the house where he worked

An electrician has been found dead hours after going missing, still clutching the power cable, potentially killing him under the house where he worked.

His concerned family raised the alarm on Thursday night when the 53-year-old tradie never returned from the Callala Bay address on NSW’s south coast.

A police search eventually found his body in a void under a large house under construction in the sleepy coastal town of Lackersteen Street around 8pm.

Witnesses revealed that he was still clutching an electrical cable when emergency services made the grim discovery.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene after police, firefighters and a flotilla of ambulances swamped the scene and closed off part of the quiet road.

The sparkie’s ute appeared to be parked in the driveway of a nearby home as officers searched for the tradie in the dark.

He was eventually found under the large mansion – surrounded by blue sails and scaffolding – currently being built on a plot of 700 m² of undeveloped land.

The land was purchased for $550,000 two years ago, with development nearing completion before Thursday’s tragic death.

NSW Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

“Shortly after 8pm yesterday, emergency services were called to a home in Lackersteen Street, Callala Bay,” a spokesman told Daily Mail Australia.

Officers from the South Coast Police District arrived on the scene and found a 53-year-old man – who did not respond – under the house.

“The man was pulled from under the house and pronounced dead by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

“Police have cordoned off a crime scene at the home and are conducting an investigation. The death is not considered suspicious.’
