Call the fashion police! Officers seize a dog in a tight blue-collared shirt from its female owner who was too drunk to care for her pet
- The furtastic dresser was rescued by Midlands officers on August 18
Passersby doubled up when they saw a smartly dressed dog sitting in a police van.
The dog, who was wearing a buttoned-up blue denim shirt, had been seized by officers from the female owner, who they said was too drunk to care for him.
A police photo of the dog in the vehicle has caused an uproar online as it was claimed on social media that the animal’s choice of clothing was a “crime against fashion”.
Others suggested that the officers even dressed up the dog for the unlikely photo.
‘The ultimate fashionista’: the smartly dressed dog (pictured) was rescued by British Transport Police in Midlands. Police said the dog’s owner was drunk and ‘didn’t take adequate care of her dog’
The police published the photo of the neat dog in the stylish blue shirt on Twitter.
The dog can be seen with a bewildered attitude sitting on the window of the police van, his eyes lasering directly through the camera lens.
British Transport Police in the Midlands explained on Twitter: ‘Yesterday our officers received a text report about a woman who was drunk and not taking care of her dog properly.
“Agents attended and ensured the dog’s welfare while further investigations are underway to determine any violations.”
The incident comes shortly after Greater Manchester Police had to crash into a motorhome to rescue a ‘locked-in’ Labrador.
Users were tickled by the stylishly dressed dog, with one person questioning the officers, “Did you dress the dog especially for the photo?”
British Transport Police in the Midlands confirmed that the dog’s fashion crimes were not their fault
While some users called the dog’s fashion sense a “crime,” others called the image their “favorite police photo of all time.” British Transport Police have confirmed the dog has been placed in alternative care
To which the police replied, “Can confirm the fashion crime was not our fault!”
Another quipped, “How do I report a crime?” That shirt is a fashion crime.’
One joked, “I really hope the cop in the blue t-shirt is wearing a seatbelt LOL.”
Others complimented the pooch saying he looked “neat in his little” outfit, while one said it was their “favorite police photo of all time.”
The dog is not currently being cared for by its owner and has been placed in alternative care, according to British Transport Police.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: ‘Officers were called to Wolverhampton railway station following reports of a woman intoxicated and concerns over the welfare of her dog.
Officers arrived on the scene and the dog was temporarily placed in alternative care. Our investigation into the incident is still ongoing.”
