For a moment I thought I better check if Mike Tyson is older than me. After all, it seems like we’ve been separated for half a lifetime.
Sure, I’m about a quarter century ahead of him, but still the age difference is less than the 30 years between Iron Mike and Jake Paul. So when it was announced that these two are actually going to fight for each other this summer, the gut reaction was a sharp intake of breath.
What is this? Father against son for a family fortune? Well, for the money, yes.
The open-mouthed reactions around the world range between fear for Tyson’s life and ridicule as boxing makes a fool of itself once again. An obscenity even.
Understandably, the health and well-being of a man of bus pass age in America is a concern. But the more you think about it, maybe the fear should focus on the other side of the ring.

Tyson isn’t one of the nobodies that Paul has mowed down for fun since moving from YouTube shuffleboard to some semblance of real boxing.
Even if I were 50 years younger, I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of possibly the most decapitating punch in ring history.
Call it a farce, call it a fraud, a disgrace or an outright disgrace – they are all arguments – but Master Paul is at greatest risk of serious harm.
Throughout his thunderous career, Tyson made a habit of knocking out proven heavyweights, often with a single sledgehammer. And the last thing a boxer loses is his punch.
Tyson wouldn’t do this, even for the money, if he didn’t believe he had the chance to do the same to his young paymaster. There is a recent movie where Tyson knocks the stuffing out of the heavy bag in the gym.

Sure, he’d have to catch the kid, but he was always one of the fastest heavyweights in the world. He showed some of that when he trained UFC icon Francis Ngannou for his boxing debut, in which he knocked down and nearly defeated Tyson Fury.
Such activities have put him back in good shape for his age. Mr. Tyson is still the last man a robber would want to try his luck with in an alley.
Hopefully he will continue to rake in the cash from his massive cannabis ranch in Nevada, but he will limit his preference for the product until July.
Should this event take place? Preferably not, but in Dallas it will likely fill America’s largest National Football League stadium. Will the medical profession be baffled? Certainly. But maybe for the wrong reason.
