Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper is ripped to shreds for softball Kamala interview: ‘I’m never watching again’

Fans of the popular podcast Call Her Daddy have ripped into Alex Cooper after she promoted her surprise interview with Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday.

The vice president, who has been subject to intense criticism for her lack of interviews, is following up her appearance on the NBA-themed All The Smoke with an appearance on Alex Cooper’s wildly popular chat show.

The show’s Instagram account posted a brief tease of the interview on Sunday morning, which drew ire from many of the show’s “Daddy Gang” listeners.

“Unsubscribed and unfollowed,” one fan wrote in the comments.

“I’m so disappointed, this feels like propaganda and trying to make her look ‘gen z’,” another added. “You will look back on this one day and regret it when we are at war because of her. SMH, really smh. You just lost a lot of respect.”

Others noted that it seemed in poor taste given the Biden-Harris administration’s response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.

“Wow, shame on you! You sold your soul for this when people needed help, you had this lady on a podcast,” one fan wrote.

“I hope everyone unfollows you and no one ever watches your bullshit podcast again.”

Some joined the online fights to support Cooper and the show, noting that Cooper has spoken out in favor of abortion rights, which a spokesperson for Harris said was on the agenda.

“Fascinating that people are shocked that a woman who has been talking about abortion rights for years would interview a female vice president running for president on abortion rights?! It’s like being shocked that Charlotte Tilbury is doing someone’s make-up.’

“Imagine boycotting someone for having a presidential candidate on their show,” wrote another. ‘You should be proud of your girl. You don’t have to agree with every guest.’

“TRUMP 2024 will never listen to this show again,” said one conservative listener. “Ask her about her POLICIES instead of all the softball interviews she’s gotten.

Harris’ spokesman says the interview, which will be released next week, was recorded with Cooper on Tuesday and addresses the vice president’s position on abortion rights.

The campaign added that Harris will talk about other issues important to women ahead of the election with the “cultural phenomenon” — which landed Cooper a $125 million SiriusXM deal.

The interview is the latest in a series of less traditional media appearances by the vice president as she makes her bid for the White House.

The vice president spoke with former basketball players Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes for a special episode of their “All the Smoke” podcast in a wide-ranging interview that lasted about 45 minutes.

The podcast hosts use their platform to discuss the latest news both on and off the basketball court.

During the episode released on Monday, the three went discussed Harris’ loyalty to the Golden State Warriors, but also left to discuss a range of other topics, from policy to her family and racial identity.

It comes as Harris has faced criticism for largely avoiding tough interviews with reporters who would grill her on the issues, opting to appear on friendlier platforms as she works to reach voters across the country.

The vice president has now gone more than 70 days without holding a solo press conference since becoming first the presumptive and then the official Democratic presidential nominee.

Even as the New York Times editorial board endorsed Harris for president on Monday, her approach to the media and what appeared to be an effort to avoid unforced errors came under fire.

However, Call Her Daddy has become a hotspot for some of the world’s most famous women (and men) to share their stories.

Cooper, who grew up in Newtown, Pennsylvania, launched Call Her Daddy with her roommate Sofia Franklin in 2018 after graduating from the College of Communication.

Thanks to her infectious personality and fearless ability to ask tough questions, the show became an instant success.

Within two months it had two million listeners and was quickly acquired by Barstool Sports.

She and Sofia split in 2020 and a year later she closed the $60 million deal with Spotify.

Since then, the podcast has become the most listened to by women on Spotify.

Furthermore, Cooper has since become a huge star in his own right, with over 3.2 million followers on Instagram.

She has interviewed a slew of A-listers on the podcast, including Simone Biles, Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox, Revel Wilson, Emily Ratajkowski, Gwyneth Paltrow and Hailey Bieber.

Last year, the podcast host launched her own platform called Unwell Network, which has since signed TikTok sensation Alix Earle.
