The Not So Quiet Man! California’s John Wayne Airport Named America’s ANGIEST in a New Survey, With Indianapolis and Seattle-Tacoma Ranked the Quietest in the Country

A recent ranking of some of America’s largest airports found that, based on Twitter activity, California’s John Wayne Airport angers its travelers more than any other US airport.
In a Forbes analysis which processed more than 37,000 tweets targeting the 60 busiest airports in the US over the course of a year, Orange County’s John Wayne Airport collected the most tweets that could be characterized as “angry.”
The words that popped up most frequently in tweets from irate John Wayne travelers were “noise,” “staff,” “TSA,” “complaints,” and “delayed.”
Nearly two-thirds of tweets targeting John Wayne Airport were irritable in nature.

By comparison, only 55 percent of tweets targeting nearby Los Angeles Airport were negative, and 54 percent of tweets targeting Hollywood Burbank Airport.
Complaints about John Wayne ranged from overly noisy airports to problems with TSA staff and flight delays.
The same was true of the airports coming in just behind John Wayne as the second and third “angry” places to catch a flight.
Those airports were Jacksonville International in Florida and Eppley Airfield in Omaha, Nebraska.
Airports in Tampa, San Antonio, Atlanta, San Diego, Nashville, Phoenix and San Jose rounded out the top 10 angriest list, while Indianapolis International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma Airport and Kansas City Airport turned out to be the quietest.
In a separate survey that John Wayne rated among its passengers, nearly three-quarters — 73 percent — scored the airport a five out of five.
John Wayne Airport Director Charlene Reynolds said the results highlight the airport’s “commitment to providing safe and convenient air travel and providing a superior guest experience that travelers can rely on”.
And it is often praised for the service it provides.
In 2022, the Wall Street Journal also ranked John Wayne as the ninth best mid-size airport in the US. The JD Power 2022 ranking listed the airport as the second best in the country in the mid-range segment.

Travelers praised Indianapolis Airport’s easy navigability and efficiency – it was ranked as the quietest airport in the country
Seattle-Tacoma Airport was also ranked among the quietest airports in the country to pass through
Forbes reported that travelers passing through Indy Airport praised its easy-to-navigate layout and efficiency.
The airport was ranked first for customer satisfaction among medium-sized airports in North America in the JD Powers 2022 North America Airport Satisfaction Study.
“We are striving for Indy Airport to become the epitome of Hoosier Hospitality, and that will have a major impact on the overall traveler experience for our community,” said Mario Rodriguez, executive director of the Indianapolis Airport Authority.
