Shirley Huang, 25, whose parents emigrated from China and currently live in California, decided last month that she wanted to learn more about her heritage.

To get the most complete results possible, she took a test from 23andMe and shared her results in a TikTok video.

The video, which has been viewed more than two million times, reveals that Huang is 100 percent Chinese and that several generations of her family come exclusively from Guangdong province.

Huang later said she opted for an ancestry test because her parents “didn’t know much” and both her grandfathers had died before she was born

She later said she was shocked, as she expected her to be of mixed Asian background due to China’s proximity to other countries.

‘I remember laughing in surprise, because I was completely Chinese. [I] I didn’t know it was possible to be 100 percent identical to anything with a DNA test.

It turned out that my ancestors came from [Guangdong] and never left, making my parents the first generation to leave southern China,” she said. Newsweek.

After her results went viral on the video app, others began sharing their hilarious ancestry test stories.

“I went to 23andme knowing I was Filipino and white, and left knowing I was 50 percent both categories, down to the exact regions I expected to see,” one TikToker shared through tears.

Another said: ‘When my aunt did this she said something like 98 percent Irish and 2 percent Scandinavian, and then she started telling everyone we were Scandinavian.’

Some other TikTokers also joked that Huang wasted money on the test and that she got the “perfect grade.”

“When you’re a child of immigrants and you’re 23 it’s just a quick waste of $100 Lmaoo,” one viewer joked.

While another said: ‘BRO SAME, THE FIRST THING MY PARENTS SAID WAS ‘I COULD HAVE TOLD YOU THAT FOR FREE’.

Huang later said she opted for an ancestry test because her parents “didn’t know much” and both her grandfathers had died before she was born.

She also explained that her father had also recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and diabetes and she wanted to know if she carried the same genes.

A scan of her health results showed she did not carry the gene for either chronic disease.

“I am very glad I took the test because it has given me valuable information about my ancestry, health and character traits that I would not have known otherwise,” she said.
