A New York man has been sentenced to four years in prison in California after he was videotaped beating his wife by his six-year-old son in the early morning hours.

Miguel Lazaro-Castillo, 38, pleaded no contest in October to the offenses of domestic violence, false imprisonment and child abuse.

The incident stems from a 911 call at 2 a.m. on Oct. 9 by one of Lazaro-Castillo's three children.

They received calls from a suspect who allegedly caused bodily harm to a spouse at a home in the 4200 block of Larson Street.

According to Yuba County Sheriff Clint Curry, deputies found Lazaro-Castillo's wife face down on the floor, surrounded by bloody napkins.

Lazaro-Castillo sat on top of his bloodied wife, with their three children – aged 15, 14 and nine – also in the room.

The man initially denied hitting his wife and said he had no idea where all the blood came from.

However, authorities discovered that the couple's nine-year-old son had actually recorded the attack.

During the clip, which lasts more than six minutes, you see Lazaro-Castillo repeatedly punching his wife in the head and face.

At one point in the video, one of their children tries to protect their mother by shielding her with her hands.

Lazaro-Castillo responded to this defense by hitting his daughter on the leg and attacking his wife again.

Eventually he is seen turning his wife over and forcing her to lie face down in the carpet for a while.

Later, deputies discovered that Lazaro-Castillo, his wife and one of the children were intoxicated.

Lazaro-Castillo was arrested by Yuba County Sheriff's Deputy Bonifacio Paredes and the children were taken into protective custody.

Despite having no criminal record, Lazaro-Castillo received the maximum sentence of four years in prison.

County authorities said the sentence was imposed because of “the brutality of his actions and his total disregard for his children.”
