The California Powerball jackpot rises to $1.04 BILLION after a new drawing with no winners
- The jackpot has been growing since July 20 as the Powerball has been drawn 30 times without a winner
- There is a 1 in 292.2 million chance of winning the top prize
- The largest US lottery jackpot in history was secured last November by California resident Edwin Castro
California Lottery officials say the jackpot for Monday’s Powerball drawing will reach an estimated $1.04 billion after no winner matched all six numbers from Saturday’s drawing.
The jackpot had an estimated value of $968.7 million.
If it were considered a lump sum, it would have been $441.4 million, although the amount would have been further reduced as 25 percent is retained by lottery officials.
The lucky numbers were 19, 30, 37, 44, 46. The red Powerball was 22.
The Power Play, a bonus multiplier for most tickets sold nationwide, was 2x.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

The ticket holder from Palmitas Mini Market in Los Angeles scored the latest jackpot on July 20, a whopping $1.08 billion.
The state of California has an impressive track record, as the state also saw the largest lottery jackpot ever drawn.
Edwin Castro was just 31 years old when he selected the winning numbers for a $2.04 billion Powerball last November.
He opted for a lump sum of $997.6 million, raising just under $1 billion.
The 31-year-old has since purchased three California mansions, the latest being a $47 million home sold by famed real estate agent Mauricio Umansky.
The home has seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a koi pond and an infinity pool with beautiful views of Los Angeles.
It adds to his other properties in Bel Air and Altadena for a total value of about $76 million.

Castro’s life isn’t all roses, however, as the lottery winner faces a lawsuit filed by a man who claims the ticket was taken from him before the draw.
The same month Castro was identified — California state law requires winners to reveal their full names — a man named Jose Rivera filed a civil complaint in Alhambra Superior Court.
The lawsuit was filed against Castro, the California State Lottery Commission, the state of California and Urachi F. Romero, the man Rivera claims stole the ticket.
However, the California Lottery remains committed to its “big winner vetting process.”
“California Lottery remains confident that Edwin Castro is the rightful winner of the $2.04 billion prize resulting from the November 2022 Powerball drawing,” a spokesperson said.
Monday’s Powerball drawing will be broadcast live on the lottery website at 10:59 PM ET.
