California mom who chased Gavin Newsom down shares three-word message for bumbling governor

A California mother who went viral after blowing up at Gavin Newsom over his bumbling response to the Los Angeles fires has said she was stunned by his response to her.

Rachel Darvish told Fox News she was furious with California’s governor after he sought a response when she pursued him.

Newsom claimed at the time that he tried to reach President Biden on the phone but said he could not get a cell connection, which Darvish said was indicative of his mismanagement of the crisis.

“There was no cell phone reception in certain areas, but that in itself is a big problem,” she told host Jesse Watters. “Why doesn’t he have a satellite truck?”

“The fact that he couldn’t get cell reception was really frustrating,” she added.

Darvish then called on Newsom to act in a time of crisis, as he and other Democratic leaders in California, including LA Mayor Karen Bass, are under scrutiny for their response.

“Governor, could you just clean this up and fix it and move on anyway,” she continued. ‘But will that happen? Don’t know.’

Her concerns echo those of many Los Angelinos who are questioning the response to the wildfires that have so far claimed at least 10 lives and more than 10,000 buildings.

Rachel Darvish, a California mom who went viral after confronting Gavin Newsom over his bumbling response to the Los Angeles fires, said in an appearance opposite Jesse Watters that she was stunned by his response to her.

California’s governor was left seeking a response as Darvish hounded him, begging for answers over a reported lack of preparedness

Criticism of Newsom’s handling of the crisis has focused on his decision to cut California’s funding for wildfire and forest resilience by $101 million, less than a year before the Los Angeles fires.

Donald Trump led calls for Newsom’s resignation, pointing to his focus on “delta smelt,” a four-inch fish native to California’s Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.

On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump argues that Gov. Gavin Newsom’s smelt conservation efforts have cut off water supplies to farmers and major cities.

The water system used by the state to fight the wildfires — which have so far burned more than 10,000 buildings and killed at least 10 people — was struggling, failing in some places under the pressure.

When asked about her thoughts on Newsom’s handling of the crisis, Darvish joked about the policy and said she has “no respect for smelt.”

“I actually love sushi, but I don’t care for smells,” she continued. “But apparently the governor does.

“But that leads to what he cares about…why do you care?”

Darvish also appeared to take issue with DEI policies within the Los Angeles Fire and Emergency Services Department, adding in her message to Newsom, “Why do you care who it is? Let’s elect the good people.’

“Governor, can you just clean this up and fix it and at least move on?

‘These guys are entrenched in what they do… It’s time for something new. It doesn’t have to be R (Republican), it doesn’t have to be D (Democrat), why can’t it be someone who knows what he’s doing?’

Watters added, “If you took a mother to the governor’s house, they would probably do a better job than Gavin Newsom.”

Darvish echoed the concerns she expressed on Newsom’s face when she confronted him earlier this week, saying she didn’t see a single fire truck or firefighter as she fled the flames.

“On the way down (while evacuating) I didn’t see any fire trucks coming to help me,” she said.

“It’s not their fault Jesse, it comes from the top…the buck stops with these guys.”
