At 4:30 Thursday afternoon, police responded to an emergency call at the dentist’s office on North Magnolia Avenue in El Cajon, a city about 15 miles northeast of San Diego.

First responders provided ā€œlife-saving supportā€ to three victims.

The dead victim was a man, police said, who did not publicly identify him.

Authorities said the coroner’s office will be the one to identify him.

Rob Ransweiler, the city’s police commissioner, briefed the press on Thursday evening. He said officers found the victim who died in the office while the shooting was still in progress and brought him outside where they could safely administer life-saving measures.

The two injured victims were taken to area hospitals. The woman, in her 20s, and the man, in his 40s, were in stable condition Thursday evening.
