California Gov. Gavin Newsom fuels speculation he is preparing to step in if Biden drops out of 2024 race after insisting ‘we have his back’

Gavin Newsom is heading to New Hampshire to campaign for Joe Biden, which hasn’t stopped many from speculating that he could replace the president on the list of candidates.

Americans have been wondering for days whether Biden would withdraw after his disastrous first debate with Donald Trump.

Newsom will now travel to a state where the scale of Biden’s election problems is clearly visible.

A new poll released by St. Anselm College Monday after the debate shows former President Donald Trump beating Joe Biden by two points in New Hampshire.

The last time a Republican presidential candidate won the state was George W. Bush in 2000.

The event, called the Blue Summer Campaign Kick-Off, is hosted by the New Hampshire Democratic Congressional Delegation.

“We look forward to welcoming Governor Newsom to New Hampshire to campaign on behalf of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as we seek to defeat Donald Trump once again,” New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley said in a statement to Fox News.

Newsom has been adamant, despite speculation, that he will “never turn my back on President Biden” and that he is not running a secret campaign.

“I don’t know of a Democrat in my party who would do that. And certainly after tonight, we supported him,” he said.

Instead, he has done his best to convince Americans that the president is still capable.

“I’ve spent a lot of time with him. I know Joe Biden. I know what he’s accomplished over the last three and a half years. I know what he’s capable of. And I have no hesitation whatsoever.”

The poll is shocking given that Biden defeated Trump in the state by more than seven points in 2020.

The poll found Trump had a 44 percent lead, Biden had a 42 percent lead, while Robert F. Kennedy Jr. received 4 percent of the vote.

Biden, 81, stumbled and stuttered during the first presidential debate, losing his train of thought, sounding hoarse and searching for words as a composed Donald Trump blasted his arguments.

Newsom, 56, told DailyMail.com that claims he could replace Biden, 81, in November were “ridiculous.”

After the debate, the Democrat said on MSNBC: “We’ve got to go in there, we’ve got to hold our heads high, and as I say, we’ve got to have this president’s back,” Newsom said. “You don’t turn away because of one performance. What kind of party does that?”

But his performance has led to claims that the governor appeared before the cameras as part of a plan to replace Biden.

Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said: ‘What we saw tonight was not an accident, it was deliberate. Get ready for a wild 5 months.’

Ramaswamy had been circulating the theory that the Democratic Party was planning to replace Biden since the Republican debates last November.

He then told the Democratic Party, “End this farce today.”

‘Joe Biden is not going to be your nominee. We know he’s not even the president of the United States. He’s a puppet of the executive class.

Many have even theorized that the Democratic Party wanted Biden to underperform all along, in order to create an exit strategy where Newsom would become the nominee.

The focus of this weekend’s post-election debate was largely on the Biden family, who gathered at Camp David to discuss their patriarch’s political future while major donors and celebrity supporters plotted their own courses of action.

The family has been unequivocal in its support of the president, even wondering how they can get involved further. Their troubled son Hunter is demanding that his father get back into the race.

Many, however, have begun to blame Biden. They point to the poor preparation of Biden’s advisers for the debates against Donald Trump. Moreover, time is of the essence, as Democrats panic over his nosedive in the polls after the Atlanta election battle.
