Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend paid tribute to the Iowa star in the cutest way on social media after the NCAA women’s championship game, calling his girlfriend “the GOAT” despite her collegiate career ending without titles.

On Sunday, Clark’s friend Connor McCaffrey shared a photo of the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer (for both men’s and women’s hoops) leaving the court for the final time as an Iowa Hawkeye on his Instagram Story, captioning it with the acronym someone used (or something) the ‘greatest of all time’.

McCaffrey β€” a former member of the Iowa men’s basketball team and the son of Iowa head coach Fran McCaffrey β€” added two red heart emojis and a pair of heart gesture emojis, which was Clark’s signature on-court celebration during her senior season.

Clark, the first overall pick in this year’s WNBA draft, later reposted the message on her own Instagram Story.

It is unclear exactly when Clark and McCaffrey started dating.

McCaffrey's Instagram post also included two red heart emojis and a few heart gesture emojis

The couple made their relationship public when she shared a few photos of themselves with McCaffrey on a boat in August last year.

β€œThe best end to summer,” Clark captioned her post at the time, including a black heart emoji.

McCaffrey was also impressed with his girlfriend’s 41-game game against LSU in the Elite Eight round last week.

Clark’s friend isn’t the only one to call the 22-year-old point guard “the GOAT,” as South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley used the acronym to describe Clark in her speech after Sunday’s championship win.

β€œ(…) Personally, I want to thank Caitlin Clark for taking our sport to the next level,” Staley said Sunday after the Gamecocks defeated the Hawkeyes 87-75.

β€œShe has carried a heavy burden for our sport. … Caitlin Clark, if you’re there, you’re one of the GOATS of our game. We appreciate you.’
