Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend Connor McCaffery ‘set for huge coaching job’ after impressing as assistant with NBA’s Indiana Pacers
Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, is joining Butler University as a coach.
McCaffery, 26, got the role after joining the Indiana Pacers as an assistant coach last summer. The job was his first coaching gig after playing the sport at the University of Iowa.
The Iowa City native played six seasons for the Hawkeyes, starting in 88 of his 166 appearances. During his college career, McCaffery averaged 4.5 points and 3.2 assists per game.
After Clark was selected first overall in the WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever earlier this year, McCaffery left for the Hoosier State and joined the Pacers.
His move to assistant coach for the Bulldogs was first reported by Akeem Glaspie of the Indianapolis Star. Scott Agness of the Fieldhouse Files and David Eickholt of 247Sports also reported his move from the Pacers to Butler.

McCaffery joins the Bulldogs staff as his younger brother, Patrick, is transferring from Iowa to Butler to play basketball. Their younger brother, Jack, will also join the program next year.
The game takes place within the family, as Connor’s father, Fran, is the head coach of the Iowa men’s basketball team.
McCaffery replaces former NBA executive Greg Oden on Butler’s staff, Glaspie said.
Oden was a high school legend in Indiana and played seven years in the NBA after a stop at Ohio State.
Butler head coach Thad Matta enters his third season leading the program since being hired in 2022. The Bulldogs went 14-18 in his first year and 18-15 last season.

McCaffery and Clark started dating in April 2023 and made their relationship official on Instagram in August of that same year.
