Basketball legend Nancy Lieberman claims she would have punched Chennedy Carter in the face and told her to “fuck off” if she was Caitlin Clark this weekend.
Carter has come under heavy criticism for her brutal bodycheck on Clark during Chicago’s defeat to Indiana last Saturday, with the Sky Guard appearing to shout ‘you b***h’ before pushing the Fever rookie to the ground.
Angel Reese seemingly celebrated the push with her Chicago teammate after the game, despite their 71-70 loss that night, sparking outrage on social media.
During a performance op ‘Run It Back’ by FanDuel TVLieberman admitted she would have responded to the body check much more violently than Clark, while calling on the former Iowa sensation’s Indiana teammates to better protect her in the future.
“Well, if I was Caitlin Clark, I would have punched her in the face,” the iconic former WNBA player and coach said. “I’m from New York and I would have told her to fuck off.

“That would actually solve the problem, because I’ve known Chennedy since she was in high school here in Dallas. She’s a tough kid, she’s a really good basketball player, she comes after you because she’s very physical – and that’s okay.
“But damn, where are Caitlin Clark’s teammates? “I would be devastated for my teammates if no one came to my rescue.”
Lieberman further pointed out that hockey great Wayne Gretzky and NBA legend Michael Jordan always had enforcers protecting them on their respective courts, and emphasized that Clark needs similar on-court help for the Fever.
‘Frankly, this is nonsense. This has to get better,” she added. “Indiana has to be better. Someone needs to come to this boy [defense].’
One player Clark wants to defend is Angel McCoughtry, who has offered to join Indiana and protect their superstar rookie from brutality in the future.
The 37-year-old McCoughtry, who has been without a team since leaving the Minnesota Lynxh in 2022, is eager to return to the league and insists it’s time for players to stand up for their teammates.
‘Take good care of your players. You all. I don’t care who it is,” the veteran said TMZ.

She insists Fever rookie Clark should receive the same protection in Indiana
“If someone drags your player down by the neck, I’ll be in your face. “What the hell are you doing?” Hey, we can go to lunch later, but right now we’re competing. Don’t grab my player like that.’
When players are unwilling to stand up for their teammates, McCoughtry offers her services.
‘Someone draw me! I’ll make sure, I’m a vet and I’ll make sure I defend and do what I need to do.”
She added: “I’m actually waiting to go back [to the WNBA]. Someone, I’m here! Call me! Come on, I’m still dunking the basketball!
“I would love to play on a team that can compete for a championship or become a vet to help the young people… like Caitlin Clark. She needs a vet around her arm to help her through the season.’
