‘Creepy’ Caitlin Clark reporter Gregg Doyel has been suspended and will not attend any Indiana Fever games this summer after his crude interaction with this year’s No. 1 overall WNBA Draft pick.

Doyel, who has not published a column for the Indy Star since April 29, was given a two-week suspension, according to a report. report by Bob Kravitz – a former writer at the same publication.

He is expected to return to work on Monday, May 13.

Doyel’s awkward conversation with Clark stems from her introductory press conference with the Fever on April 17 – two days after she was drafted out of Brooklyn, NY as the league’s first overall pick.

During the press conference, he introduced himself by giving Clark her patented heart gesture. When Clark asked if Doyel liked her popular hand gesture, Doyel responded with “Start doing it with me and then we’ll get along,” which led to an uncomfortable look from Clark.

Now, as part of the discipline he received on Tuesday, Doyel – father of two – will no longer attend Fever matches this summer, but “will continue to write columns about the team by watching TV from his home”, according to reports Kravitz.

He has also chosen to remain “disillusioned” for now and is preparing “for a trip to visit his son,” the former Indy star reporter added.

Doyel was widely criticized on social media for his strange encounter with 21-year-old Clark. The response led to him sharing a public apology to the former Iowa star in one of his columns for the Indy Star last month.

But that led to even more criticism from WNBA fans, as one X user shared, “Nothing says ‘sorry’ like us clicking on your column.”

Famous for his monstrous bets on pro and college basketball games, Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy weighed in and labeled Doyel a “sexist pervert.”

Then creepy footage emerged of Doyel calling Clark “this” and “it” in a bizarre question to Fever head coach Christie Sides.

“You just got the keys to that,” he told Sides first, referring to Clark as if she were a sports car. ‘What are you going to do with it?’

Sides responded by humanizing Clark: “Hopefully we’ll win a lot of games to start with. She will help us with that.’

Spokespeople for the Indy Star and its parent company, Gannett, did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment Tuesday morning.
