Former Iowa cornerback and possible 2024 NFL Draft first-round pick Cooper DeJean believes he could beat Caitlin Clark in a head-to-head basketball game, he said.
DeJean revealed that a few NFL teams asked him if he could beat Clark head-to-head. The 6-foot-1 defenseman then said he could beat the now Indiana Fever star.
Clark had an incredible senior season at Iowa, where she broke several NCAA records, including being the all-time collegiate leader in overall scoring.
A Clark-led Iowa team has been involved in breaking the all-time women’s basketball television viewing record four times in the past 13 months.
DeJean hasn’t played organized basketball since high school, but averaged 25.9 points per game as a senior.

“I think I can do it,” DeJean countered Yahoo! Sport. “She could probably score me a few times, but I think I could get it done.”
DeJean was a three-sport athlete in high school and was all-state track and field as a sprinter during his senior season.
DeJean’s 1,832 career points are 45 higher than future NBA first-round pick Harrison Barnes in the Iowa high school record books.
His 247Sports composite does not show him receiving a Division I basketball offer, while he was a top 200 recruit in the country for football.
Clark will begin her WNBA career next month, with ticket prices skyrocketing with her arrival in the league.
