Caitlin Clark breaks YET ANOTHER record as Indiana Fever superstar boosts WNBA Rookie of the Year bid vs Dallas Wings

Caitlin Clark continues to break new ground just months into her debut season with Indiana Fever.

In their game against the Dallas Wings on Wednesday night, Clark broke an Indiana franchise record for most assists in a single season after just 26 games.

The WNBA’s No. 1 draft pick set a new career-high total by recording her 202nd assist of the season against Dallas, before adding five more before the end of the third quarter.

It’s been a sensational debut season in the WNBA so far for Clark, who has already broken a number of records in the major leagues after her iconic college career at Iowa.

Earlier this month, she became the first rookie ever to reach 400 points, 150 assists and 100 rebounds, and the first to record a triple-double.

Clark is currently battling arch-rival Angel Reese for this season’s WNBA Rookie of the Year award, with opinions divided on who should win.

Like her fellow rookie, Reese is having a breathtaking season with the Chicago Sky and currently ranks second in the league in rebounds with 11.9 per game.

Clark, meanwhile, is the league’s highest-scoring rookie with an average of 16.8 points per game, while also leading the assist charts with 7.8 points per game.

While the debate over who will win continues, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal this week named Reese as his “certain” favorite.

“I’m not just saying this because she went to LSU,” O’Neal, who attended the same university as Reese, said on ESPN’s Sports Center.

‘[But] I think she’s definitely leading the race for Rookie of the Year.

“I give the voice to Angel.”

Despite naming Reese his Rookie of the Year, Shaq was still full of praise for Clark for her record-breaking season so far in Indiana.

“Caitlin is a fantastic player, the female Steph Curry,” he continued. “She [Clark and Reese] have done a lot for the game.

‘Caitlin and Angel, through social media and all the other media outlets, have really taken the game to where it should have been 10 years ago.

‘I am very happy for the women’s basketball team. They always play hard and their basic skills are great.

“But listen, Caitlin Clark is a fantastic player, Angel Reese is a fantastic player… but I’m going to give it to Angel Reese right now.”
