Caitlin Clark believes she’s given special treatment by WNBA officials after Fever suffer loss to Aces

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark believes she received special treatment from WNBA officials after losing 86-75 to the Las Vegas Aces on Wednesday night.

Clark is the primary driver of the Fever’s offense, meaning she gets to touch the ball more than any other Indiana player.

This also means that you will have more contact with opponents.

In one of those instances, Clark was visibly angry with officials after committing a foul. She ran past Aces guard Jackie Young and made a layup. However, the game was called after Clark made unintentional light contact with Young’s face.

Clark said the Aces’ aggressive nature “worked” and expects it to do so even more so throughout the rest of the season.

“The offensive fouls are really surprising sometimes,” Clark said after the loss. “I feel like I get held and get a fair bit of contact during the games and you get a few where you make some contact and get contact again. It is what it is.”

Clark did say that she can best counter the physical strength of other players by using her speed more.

Reigning WNBA Finals MVP A’ja Wilson also broke the single-season scoring record with her 940th and 941st points on a jumper just before halftime. The milestone comes after Wilson missed her first game since 2019 on Sunday with an ankle injury.

Las Vegas lost in thrilling fashion to the New York Liberty, but bounced back with a win over Indiana.

Wilson’s performance broke the previous record set in 2023 by Jewell Lloyd with 939 points. Wilson shined on Wednesday with a performance of 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Chelsea Gray trailed her – among the starters – with 11 points. Meanwhile, Alysha Clark and Tiffany Hayes came off the bench with 14 and 12 points respectively.

On the other hand, Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever’s efforts with 24 points, followed by Clark’s 15 points and six assists. Despite a low-scoring game, Aliyah Boston trailed Wilson in boards with 10.

The win moves Las Vegas to a 23-13 record, which puts them fourth in the league and second in the Western Conference. On the other hand, the sixth-seeded Fever went 19-18.

Indiana has three games left, while Las Vegas has four, and the teams meet again on Friday in their final regular-season showdown.
