Caitlin Clark becomes women’s college basketball’s all-time scoring leader

Iowa’s Caitlin Clark didn’t take long to become the NCAA women’s career scoring leader when No. 4 Iowa hosted Michigan.

Clark entered Thursday night’s match needing eight points to pass Kelsey Plum’s total of 3,527. She made it in less than four minutes, breaking the milestone with a three-pointer with 7:44 left in the first period.

The Hawkeyes star and her dynamic play have captivated the nation for two seasons. Last year, she led the Hawkeyes to the NCAA title game and was named AP Player of the Year. It is not just her pursuit of the record, her long three-pointers and flashy passes that have brought interest in the women’s game to unprecedented heights. Arenas are sold out for her matches, home and away, and the viewing figures have never been higher.
