Simone Inzaghi’s side secured their second league win of the season on Monday night when Inter Milan recorded a 2-0 win against Cagliari at the Sardegna Arena.
It was a rampant first-half display by the visitors that shocked Cagliari, with the Nerazzurri scoring twice within half an hour to take the lead.
Denzel Dumfries gave Milan the lead and shot through towards the six meter area to receive a through ball from Marcus Thuram and fire a shot into the opposite corner of the goal from a tight angle.
The away side doubled their lead just nine minutes later, with Lautaro Martinez using excellent footwork and composure to control a difficult pass into the penalty area before hitting a low shot into the corner of the net.
The Argentine has had a brilliant start to the 2023-24 season, with this his third goal in Inter’s first two league matches.
His side will now finish third in the Serie A standings, alongside AC Milan, Napoli and Verona, while Cagliari are 15th in the table, having drawn one draw and lost both of their first two games.
Inter will face Fiorentina on Sunday and Cagliari Bologna on Saturday.
