Man is shot dead in a suspected gangland hit in western Sydney – as cops hunt for the gunman and discover a burnt out car nearby

A man was shot dead in a suburb before the suspected getaway car was found burnt out four kilometers away.

Emergency responders were called to Sutherland Street, Canley Heights in Sydney’s west about 7pm on Sunday evening after reports of shots fired.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he could not be resuscitated.

A short time later a car was found on fire in the nearby suburb of Wakeley.

The suspected shooter is still on the run.

NSW Police are not yet providing further details.
