C-DAC and AICTE have partnered to provide training in high-performance computing
The Center for Development of Advanced Computing on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the All India Council for Technical Education to create an ecosystem for human resource development in high-performance computing and related fields.
About 2,500 faculty members from around 1,000 engineering colleges across India will be trained through 50 faculty development programs under the joint initiative of C-DAC and AICTE.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology plans to teach high-performance computing-related subjects to about 50,000 students as part of their curriculum.

Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, said the robust computer-savvy manpower development under the National Supercomputing Mission will now reach a wider audience in engineering colleges across the country. “This, in turn, will help build strong computing-related capabilities in the technical workforce, making them industry-ready,” he added.
Under the partnership, C-DAC and AICTE will undertake training and refresher programs to train ‘master trainers’ to enhance their teaching skills in high-performance computing and related technologies. These master trainers will then train faculty members with the necessary knowledge to teach students at their colleges.
Both organizations will work together to implement quality improvement programs to enhance the expertise in high-performance computing and related technologies of faculty from disciplines other than computer science.
Furthermore, courses in high-performance computing will be offered on the Ministry of Education’s Swayam platform, which offers free online courses in various disciplines to students, according to an official press release from MeitY.
“Courses in high performance computing will be designed in such a way that they are aligned with the current and emerging requirements of the industry. C-DAC will offer the high performance computing learning platforms like PARAM Shavak, PARAM Vidya and other emerging platforms through AICTE to nominated institutes,” the ministry said.
MeitY has also planned awareness programs to introduce the nuances of high-performance computing in around 1,000 colleges, with a target of reaching 100,000 students.
In support of the initiative, MeitY has also proposed to install 50 PARAM Shavak – ‘Supercomputing Solution in a Box’ from C-DAC – in AICTE affiliated institutions.
