Busy Philipps talks about 'cool' daughter Birdie, 15, as they attend the Mean Girls premiere in New York… a month after the teen suffered a seizure
Busy Philipps was joined by her eldest daughter Birdie at the premiere of Mean Girls in New York City on Monday, a month after the teen suffered a seizure.
The actress, 44, and her mini-me, 15, looked chic in blue dresses as they hit the pink carpet at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater.
While Busy – who plays Mrs. George in the upcoming musical comedy – spoke about Birdie at the event, calling her “so cool,” while also revealing that her kids didn't think of her as a “cool mom,” as per People.
'I think I'm cool, but my kids don't think I'm cool. And I am aware of that. I also think I'm very clear about the fact that I'm their mom and not their girlfriend, so that definitely doesn't make me cool,” she explained.
In addition to Birdie, Busy also shares daughter Cricket, 10, with her ex-husband, screenwriter Marc Silverstein, 52.
Busy Philipps was joined by her eldest daughter Birdie at the Mean Girls premiere in New York City on Monday, a month after the teen suffered a seizure while at boarding school.
The former couple married in 2007 and were married for over a decade before splitting in 2021.
At the event, the White Chicks star stunned in a sleeveless polka dot figure-hugging dress, which she paired with elbow-length black gloves.
Busy accessorizing with a chic black clutch, she wore her blonde locks parted in the middle and slicked back.
Meanwhile, Birdie wore a retro white and blue plaid dress, white heels and a matching white headband.
Birdie appeared in good spirits as she posed next to her mother following her recent health scare.
In December, Busy took to her podcast: The busy Philipps does her bestto recall a story about how her daughter Birdie had a seizure this weekend while she was at her boarding school in Sweden.
The actress said it happened while she and Birdie's father Marc were nearly 4,000 miles away in New York City.
“I was just kind of mumbling to myself and then I heard Marc yelling at me and I thought, 'What does this bloody guy want now?'” an emotional Philipps recalled.

She continued, “And I went upstairs, but then I heard his voice and I knew something was really wrong. And he just said, it's Birdie, it's Birdie. She had another seizure. The ambulance crew is on the phone.'
This marks the second bout for Birdie — who no longer uses their pronouns — as she also had an outburst in March while Philipps filmed the movie musical Mean Girls in New Jersey.
“The paramedics were on FaceTime and she had just come out of the seizure and she was still in a post-aura state,” the White Chicks star explained.
“They were like, put her in touch with things and on FaceTime.”
Philipps felt helpless as Birdie screamed for her.
“It was scary to see how she was doing and she was just reaching,” she added.
Luckily, the teenager was in the company of a friend who had traveled to Stockholm to watch the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, in a cinema.
“Her friend who was with her was holding the phone, so it looked like a weird medium shot. This way you could see everything that happened. So it felt so weird,” Philipps said.

“(Birdie) reached for the camera and just said, and shouted at me. Just say, “Mommy. Mommy. Mommy. Where are you? Mommy.”
It is unclear whether Birdie has been formally diagnosed with epilepsy.
According to the Mayo Clinic, doctors typically diagnose patients with the condition if they have had “at least two unprovoked seizures at least 24 hours apart.”
Philipps and Silverstein sent their oldest child off to college in August, and the actress admitted it was still something she was “trying to process.”
Although separated, Philipps and Silverstein have apparently continued to live under the same roof.
The Freaks and Geeks star and the screenwriter have yet to formally divorce.
