Busted take a savage swipe at McFly while confessing to ‘an absolute rivalry’ between the bands
The punk pop bands were famous rivals during the height of their successes in the 1990s.
In 2013, Busted and McFly shocked fans when they co-created supergroup McBusted – without Charlie Simpson – but split just two years later.
And now Busted trio Matt Willis, James Bourne and Charlie Simpson have taken a savage swipe at McFly, while admitting there was 'an absolute rivalry' between the bands.
The What I Go To School For hitmakers claimed 'no one remembers McFly' – whose members include Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd.
The Busted boys also insisted that there is 'no more competition' as they claimed they are 'the clear favourites'.

Requested by The sun about the competition between the two bands, Charlie Simpson admitted: 'It's not sneaky, it's an absolute rivalry.'
'There is no more competition, we are the absolute favourite!' added James Bournebefore insisting, “Nobody remembers them anymore.”
“Every time people came up to me and said, 'Oh, wait, I like you. But you know what, I love McFly too.” Now they just say, 'I'm so glad you're back.' They don't say anything about it.'
Referring to McFly frontman Tom Fletcher, Matt Willis added: 'Yes (they say) ''we love you and we love Tom's band''. You know, the rest of those guys.”
It comes after it was reported that Charlie will return to The Masked Singer in December, but this time as a judge, after winning the 2023 series as Rhino in February.
The Busted frontman will cover regular panelist Rita Ora for one night only as she will miss three shows due to other work commitments.
Olly Murs and Jennifer Saunders will fill out the other two episodes on the judge after she was announced as Nicole Scherzinger's replacement this year.

“Skipping three of the eight episodes feels like a pretty big chunk, so viewers will definitely miss Rita, she's such a fan favorite,” a source shared. The sun.
