Entain faces £585m in HMRC costs

Gambling giant Entain has taken a £585m provision under an HMRC investigation, with the owner of Ladbrokes hoping to ‘draw a line’ under tax issues related to the sale of its Turking business in 2017.

Barry Gibson, chairman, said:

“We are pleased to be making good progress in drawing a line under this historic matter, which concerns a company that was sold by a former Group management team nearly six years ago.

“We have worked closely with the CPS throughout this process and they have recognized our extensive collaboration. After a complete overhaul of our business model, strategy and culture over the past few years, today’s Entain is nothing like yesterday’s GVC.”
