One person was injured when the fire, which started around 3:30 a.m., destroyed several businesses within a commercial building in the Kingsbridge area.

Video shared on social media shows huge flames tearing through the building, with eyewitnesses telling how they were woken by the overwhelming smell of smoke.

A local barbershop, fish market, meat market, florist and cleaning company appear to have been affected, the report said ABC7 New York.

'I saw a lot of firefighters and woke up to the smoke. I was surprised because this kind of thing doesn't happen in the area. These companies have been around for over 30 years. These people are nice people,” said eyewitness Miguel.

Officials said the fire started early this morning at the Cold Cut City Bunny Deli, with witnesses saying the fire started in the kitchen at the back of the business.

The fire came just days after another six-story building collapsed in the Bronx, tearing families' homes apart.

Surveillance footage showed a school bus driving close by when the apartment suddenly gave way without warning, sending scaffolding and tons of concrete, bricks and metal into the street below.

Passersby were able to take cover Monday around 3:30 p.m. from the massacre that occurred without warning in the Morris Heights neighborhood while the school run was in full swing.

Photos from the scene showed the bare walls of several units in the apartment complex, some completely exposed.

On the ground floor it was a scene of complete destruction, with a pile of rubble underneath.

A scaffolding shed at the base of the building also collapsed and was surrounded by a pile of sheet metal, bricks, concrete and metal bars.

This is a breaking news story, more to come…
