Burwood, Sydney: Chilling new details emerge after a young man and woman are found dead at a high-rise apartment block in Sydney
Shocking new details have emerged after a young man was found dead in the courtyard of an apartment building with shattered ankles, while the body of a woman with stab wounds was found in an apartment above.
The man’s body was found at about 8.50am on Monday in the courtyard of a building on Conder Street in Burwood, in Sydney’s west.
Officers later found the body of a woman with stab wounds, along with the suspected murder weapon, in a unit in the same complex.
New South Wales Police Chief Inspector Christine McDonald said police were called to the scene by a member of the public who had found the man’s body.
Officers were then led to the block where the woman was found based on CCTV footage.
Superintendent McDonald said both deceased were of Asian appearance and believed to be in their 20s or 30s. They have yet to be formally identified and police have yet to establish their nationalities.
Police suspect that at least one of the deceased lived in the complex, but do not yet know the nature of their relationship.
“It’s too early at this point to say whether it’s murder, suicide or domestic violence,” she said.

Officers investigate the scene of the double tragedy
“What I can say is that violence against any person is not tolerated and will not happen.”
According to Superintendent McDonald, the woman was captured on CCTV entering the apartment on Monday morning before she was stabbed.
The man was found with injuries to his ankles. Police are investigating the suspicion that he jumped from the building.
According to Chief Inspector McDonald, it is unlikely that the police know the unit and the individuals.
As the investigation is still ongoing, anyone with information is urged to contact police.
A resident who lives nearby said he heard a “really loud bang” around 6 a.m. Monday.
“I wasn’t sure what it was, I didn’t hear anyone screaming. It was dead quiet,” they told Daily Mail Australia.
‘[Then] At around 8:15 a.m. I saw about eight police officers and three detectives.

‘The police were there and they counted the balconies. There was a white sheet, but then it started to rain, so they put up a blue tent.’
On Monday afternoon, detectives and a police helicopter were spotted combing the area.
A blue tent with a tarpaulin around it has been set up in the closed courtyard.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
