Burpengary death: Man, 26, arrested after cops find elderly man dead and woman critically injured inside a home

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after police found an elderly man dead and a woman seriously injured following a welfare check at a home.

A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of the alleged victims at a house in the Moreton Bay suburb of Burpengary East, Queensland, about 9.20am on Thursday.

The injured man and woman, both in their 70s, suffered serious head injuries at the Bramston Court address.

Police were conducting a welfare check at the Bramston Court, Moreton Bay address when they discovered a man and a woman in their 70s with serious head injuries.

The man died at the scene and the woman was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

Police have taken a 26-year-old Boondall man into custody.

A crime scene has been declared as police conduct their ongoing investigation.

The police do not assume that there is any danger to the public.
