Burnley are working on a deal to sign Gustavo Hamer from Coventry with the midfielder worth around £15 million.
The Dutch-Brazilian was one of the stars of last Championship season, helping the Sky Blues reach the play-off final, where they were defeated by Luton on penalties.
With just one year left on his contract, Hamer is an attractive proposition for a number of clubs and is highly regarded by Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.
Mail Sport understand the clubs have been in talks as Burnley – promoted to the Premier League last season – try to negotiate a deal that Coventry will accept.
It is therefore likely that their offer will include at least one player, rather than an outright cash deal. Defenders Luke McNally, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Coventry, and Bobby Thomas are said to be among the players admired by Sky Blues boss Mark Robins.

Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres were the attacking stars of the Coventry team last season and Swedish striker Gyokeres joined Sporting Lisbon earlier this month. Like Hamer, he only had one year left on his contract.
Hamer contributed nine goals and ten assists during the regular season, scoring the only goal in the two legs of the play-off semi-final against Middlesbrough.
Hamer’s move to Coventry is an example of how clever scouting pays off. They had kept a close eye on Hamer during his two seasons at Zwolle, paying around £1.2 million for him.

The 26-year-old was born in Brazil, but left South America during his early childhood and attended the Feyenoord academy. Although he never settled in Rotterdam, Hamer retains a great affection for the Dutch champions.
“For me, the focus is now on a step up towards the Premier League, but a return to Feyenoord would also be extremely attractive,” Hamer told Voetbal Primeur last season.
Other top leagues would be nice too, but these are my real goals now. England attracted me very much and Coventry was a perfect step.’
