Burnley have announced the signing of Hannes Delcroix from RSC Anderlecht for an undisclosed fee.

The Belgium international becomes Vincent Kompany’s tenth signing during the summer transfer window and has secured a deal to keep him at Turf Moor until 2026.

The 24-year-old will reunite with his compatriot Kompany, who he worked with when the former Man City defender was a player-coach at Anderlecht.

Delcroix said of the transfer: ‘I heard last Monday or Tuesday last week that Burnley were interested in me.

‘It went very quickly. I had a phone call with Vinny (Vincent Kompany) and on Saturday I was already on the plane. So it went very fast. It’s been a very busy few days, but I’m glad I’m here now.

It’s a different league, the Premier League. Everyone knows. It is currently the best league in the world.

“For me it’s a great opportunity to come here and it’s a great team. It wasn’t hard to come here when I got the option.’

Delcroix, who climbed through the youth academy at Anderlecht, signed his first professional contract with the Purple & White in 2017.

During his career, he made 65 appearances for the Belgium squad, scoring two goals in all competitions during that time.

The central defender was also loaned to Eredivisie team RKC Waalwijk during the 2019/20 season.

Delcroix previously worked with Kompany (pictured) when the former Man City defender was player-coach at the Belgian club and said he was looking forward to making 'progress' under the Burnley boss.

Speaking about reuniting with Kompany, he said he is looking forward to growing and learning under Clarets’ boss.

“When I was there, it was really nice to have him as a coach because he was also a defender,” Delcroix said.

“I learned a lot from him and for me coming here now is also a great opportunity and I can still progress under him. It’s also a good choice for me to come here.’
