Chelsea striker David Fofana is expected to complete a move to Burnley this weekend after being recalled from his loan deal at Union Berlin.
Talks with Burnley accelerated on Thursday evening and the 22-year-old is set to undergo a medical within the next 48 hours.
Fofana will fly back to Britain on Friday, making a medical on Saturday more likely.
This means he will not be available to play in Burnley’s league match against Luton on Friday evening, but the deal will be completed shortly afterwards.
His return freed up an international loan spot and allowed Ian Maatsen to complete his move to Borussia Dortmund.

Sevilla wanted Fofana on loan but had to wait for Chelsea to cancel another move or sell one of the seven players they had on their limited loan spots.
It now appears they have missed out on his signature for Burnley, who are looking for better attacking options.
The Clarets have scored just 20 goals in their 20 league games this season. Bottom side Sheffield United is the only top team that scores less often.
Fofana scored two goals in 17 appearances for Union Berlin in the first half of the season but is seen as an exciting prospect and Burnley will hope he can hit the ground running as they look to avoid defeat.
Fofana’s impending arrival could see another Burnley striker shown the exit door.
23-year-old Darko Churlinov is wanted by Bundesliga side Schalke as he has not played for Vincent Kompany’s side this season.
