Department store giant Bunnings is one of the companies hit by the global crisis at Microsoft.
Woolworths, Qantas, the major banks and major media companies were all hit by computer outages around 3pm on Friday.
The catastrophic technical failure was caused by an update from antivirus company Crowdstrike for Microsoft computers.
According to customers, the checkout machines at Bunnings were damaged.
Bunnings has confirmed it has been affected by the technical fault
“Problems with the computer and cash register at a local supermarket,” said one customer.
“Oh, that explains what happened when I was in Bunnings,” said another.
Gen Elliot, Bunnings’ Chief Information Officer, said in a statement: “We are aware of an issue impacting a number of checkouts in our stores and we apologise to customers for the disruption.
“This is due to an issue with a third-party vendor that is affecting a number of organizations. We are working with our vendor to address this as a priority and thank customers for their patience.”
