Shocking footage has emerged of a wild traffic brawl that caused a traffic jam on a busy road during rush hour.

Two drivers were caught in the middle of the road near the corner of Bundall Road and Slatyer Avenue in Bundall on the Gold Coast shortly before 8am on Thursday.

Footage taken by another motorist showed a man in a yellow fluorescent shirt getting out of an SUV.

Seconds later, the driver of a sedan parked next to the four-wheel drive car emerged and a scuffle ensued.

The man with the safety glasses lost his balance for a moment, after which all hell broke loose between the two men.

At one point, the man wearing safety glasses held the other man against the four-wheel drive as several other drivers attempted to intervene.

Eventually the men were separated.
