Bully billionaire bride Katherine Asplundh tries to rebrand as an influencer by flaunting her wealth on TikTok after name-change saga

The woman who married a billionaire family and tried to intimidate a stranger into giving up her Instagram account is now trying to establish herself as a lifestyle vlogger.

Katherine Asplundh has been busy flaunting her wealth on TikTok during her first summer as the wife of 27-year-old Pennsylvania billionaire Cabot Asplundh, whom she married in April at a lavish reception in Palm Beach, Florida.

After marrying her husband – whose family is worth at least $3 billion thanks to their hugely successful tree care business – she set out to get her desired Instagram name from an Instagram user who happens to have the same married name as Katherine.

She kept pushing the woman to give up her username and the negative reactions that followed forced her to temporarily deactivate her Instagram.

But just weeks after the tragedy, Katherine appears unscathed by the entitlement accusations, happily flaunting her glamorous lifestyle in daily TikTok vlogs.

In her videos she mainly shows her daily routine: she makes breakfast for her husband, does yoga, sips cocktails and admires her extensive garden.

In one of her most recent vlogs On Labor Day, she said her husband stayed home from work and spent the day working in the yard, leaving her alone to run errands.

She showed off the sandwich she made and posed for the camera with Cabot as they had lunch together.

They then test-drove a Ford Bronco, which can cost between $40,000 and $90,000, before heading home to work in the yard.

This was followed by more mundane tasks like doing laundry and making dinner, but she ended the video with a visit to a frozen yogurt shop.

Her TikTok account has a modest following of 90,000, but interest in the billionaire bride’s adventures has waned sharply in recent months.

Before early July, Katherine’s posts were often viewed by hundreds of thousands of people.

Nowadays, a video of hers is considered a success if it is viewed more than 20,000 times.

An outlier in that trend was a video She posted a message on August 23rd with Jill, her husband’s mother and now separated from Cabot’s father, that has been viewed nearly 200,000 times.

Jill enthusiastically explains how to make a cucumber-watermelon martini. The party ends with a drink for the two of them, which they call “the most refreshing summer cocktail in the world.”

Katherine receives a lot of negative comments on her videos, but she also has plenty of loyal followers who enjoy getting a glimpse into her chic lifestyle.

A video In July 2023, she posted a post describing her and Cabot’s move from New York City to the countryside, which was notably poorly received.

In a voiceover, she said she was leaving the city “to be a farm girl, like she was always meant to be,” adding that she had only her “sweatshirts” with her when she moved.

She also proudly announced, “We’ll probably live here until we’re 95 and then we’ll probably die in this house.”

All this was accompanied by breathtaking views of their home, their immaculately maintained grounds and their own pond, complete with jetty.

“Ah yes, the luxury farm life,” someone wrote in the comments.

“Ah, to be rich,” wrote another.

“I’m sure you guys worked really hard for that,” a third commenter responded.

Someone asked if these kids had jobs to pay for this undoubtedly expensive house and land. Someone replied, “No, trust fund babies probably get paid by their parents.”

However, there is a part of Katherine’s audience that actually rates her videos very positively.

One of her fans commented on her Labor Day TikTok: “Thank you for coming back so strong, I love all the content!”

“All because of comments like this, thank you,” Katherine replied.

Katherine and Cabot met in Prague when she was studying on the coast and became friends while she was growing up on the Jersey shore.

Two years later, Cabot proposed to her in Mantoloking, New Jersey.

Their star-studded romance culminated in controversy that severely damaged Katherine’s online reputation.

She wanted an Instagram name that matched her married name.

Katherine reached out to the account owner of @katherineasplundh, a woman named Kate, to ask if she could buy her handle. Buying usernames is a practice that violates the platform’s terms of service.

Kate refused, explaining that she was afraid she would be banned from Instagram if she sold her username, prompting Katherine to launch into a tirade of seemingly arrogant messages.

Kate then shared screenshots of the alleged exchange on Reddit, sparking outrage from users.

The leaked DMs inspired people to side with Kate, with many creating dozens of fake accounts using different spellings of the billionaire’s wife’s name.

This meant that all possible username options containing her maiden or married name were now taken.

Katherine succumbed to this pressure and deleted her Instagram account, which at the time had 14,600 followers. She revived it in June with her old username, @katherinedrisc, created under her maiden name, Katherine Driscoll.

It appears she has resigned herself to continuing to use her old name on Instagram, even in the months following the drama.

It also appears that she hasn’t benefited from the username debacle in terms of visibility, as she now has just over 15,300 followers on Instagram.

Katherine got into even more trouble when internet users unearthed an old TikTok of hers in which she mocked newlyweds who couldn’t wait to share their names on social media, accusing her of being a hypocrite.

“Something that secretly bothers me is when girls get married and it’s not even 10 minutes after they say their vows and they’re like, ‘Oh! I’m going to go on my Instagram! Let me change my last name,'” Katherine said in the now-deleted post.

She then says she’s “probably going to wait a few months” before changing her name.

“I just think it’s a little over the top when I see girls changing their looks before I even knew they were fucking married. I really do,” Katherine explained wryly.
