Bukayo Saka is OUT of Arsenal’s squad to face Luton – as Mikel Arteta makes FIVE changes to his starting XI from their Manchester City stalemate

  • Arsenal have FINALLY grown up… they were soft and you can’t say that anymore. It all starts

Bukayo Saka has been left out of Arsenal’s squad for Wednesday evening’s Premier League match against Luton.

The 22-year-old appeared to be nursing an injury as he left the field in the 78th minute of the Gunners’ 0-0 draw with Manchester City last weekend.

Mikel Arteta had provided an update on the winger during the week, suggesting he was not a major problem against the Hatters.

But he has opted to omit the forward from a much-changed squad, with the likes of Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus missing from a starting XI.

Saka joined the rest of his teammates as they arrived in the Emirates for the match that could see them return to the top of the league.

Arsenal fell two points behind Liverpool after their draw at the Etihad but could return to the top with a win ahead of the Reds’ match against Sheffield United on Thursday.

Saka’s durability is a hallmark of his recent resurgence, as before Wednesday he featured in 108 of the last 109 league games for Arteta’s side, dating back to the 2020/21 season.

The intensity of Arsenal’s upcoming schedule will certainly have played a role in his manager’s decision. The north Londoners face a tough test in Brighton this weekend ahead of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.

The visit of Rob Edwards’ side could be the first of nine games in the month of April.
