Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka says England are using the women’s team’s success as a motivator for next month’s World Cup.
The Lionesses made history this summer after winning Euro 2022, England’s first major trophy since the 1966 World Cup.
Saka says the men’s team is hungry to win this year’s tournament in Qatar and seeing the women’s success has motivated them even more.

In an interview with ES Magazine,,The 21-year-old said: ‘Yeah, the World Cup is always in the back of my mind. It’s the biggest tournament in the world.’
‘I was very happy for them (England women). They made some history, a lot of history. I feel like there’s always fire in the gut, but to see them do it… we’re all so proud. And we want to do it too.’
He added: “When you play for your country, it means the world. You play for an entire nation. You represent an entire nation. They are all behind you and supporting you. It just means everything.’
“And it’s important that people remember that.”
Saka looks almost guaranteed to be part of England’s squad for next month’s World Cup in Qatar
Saka looks almost guaranteed to be in the England squad next month, adding to the 20 caps he already has for the Three Lions.
Last month he was voted England’s Player of the Year for 2022 after some strong performances for Gareth Southgate’s side.
In the same interview, Saka spoke about how it feels to win the award, saying: ”And they are the best players of any team in the country. The players I go to camp with are very, very special. The quality I see all the time is through the roof.

Saka is in good form for a young Arsenal team currently at the top of the Premier League, with four assists and a goal in eight appearances.
