Bukayo Saka: Arsenal striker sustains injury during Sunday’s match against Man City – live on Sky Sports
Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka has suffered an injury ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against Man City Air sports.
Saka limped while holding his leg during Arsenal’s Group B Champions League match against French side Lens on Tuesday evening.
The 22-year-old was replaced by Fabio Vieira in the 34th minute after creating the opening goal of the match for Gabriel Jesus, becoming the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to register five goals and assists this season.
Saka has been an ever-present for Arsenal, starting in the last 87 consecutive Premier League games, a club record dating back to May 2021.
He had suffered a foot injury that forced him off late in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth, but was deemed fit enough to start on Tuesday evening.
The England international’s fitness will be a key focus ahead of Sunday’s match between the two sides who battled for the Premier League title last season.
Treble winners City swept aside Arsenal in their last league match, beating the Gunners 4-1 at the Etihad in April before claiming their third successive league crown.
Analysis from France: Arteta is not taking any risks with Saka
Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterill at RC Lens’ Estadio Bollaert-Delelis:
“I don’t want to give false hope to Arsenal and England fans.
“But the feeling here, and not at all officially, is that Saka might not be too bad. Maybe a muscle injury or maybe a precautionary measure. The club has made it clear that Arteta will not take risks with any player, with Manchester City around.” the corner.”
