As Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling attempted to catch a touchdown pass, a Buffalo Bills fan appeared to throw a snowball at the opposing team.

The strange sequence occurred in the second quarter on a crucial third down, with Valdes-Scantling attempting to haul in a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes.

The pass feels incomplete, with the snowball instead making contact with Cam Lewis, who was guarding Valdes-Scantling on the play.

On the next play, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker successfully made a 29-yard field goal.

The play represents Valdes-Scantling’s only target of the first half. Valdes-Scantling caught Mahome’s first throw of the second half for a 30-yard gain.

A snowball was apparently thrown at Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Valdes-Scantling was with the Chiefs the past two seasons after starting his career with the Green Bay Packers.

The Chiefs wide receiving corps is thin for the game against the Bills, with Kadarius Toney missing his fifth straight game.

Kansas City briefly took its only lead of the game so far in the second quarter on a Travis Kelce touchdown.

Valdes-Scantling joining the team ahead of the 2022 season means he has not participated in the Chiefs’ previous playoff games against the Bills.

However, Valdes-Scantling was part of the Chiefs team that won the Super Bowl last year.
