Another excerpt read: “I have complex feelings about having a stepfather who I thought had recently sacrificed me on his personal PR altar.”

When asked what Camilla had “done” at the time, Harry replied: “I have great compassion for her, you know.” Being the third person in my parents’ marriage and she had a reputation, or an image, to rehabilitate.

“Whatever conversations that took place, whatever deals or trades were made early on, he was led to believe that that would be the best way to do it.”

In his earlier interview with Anderson Cooper, Harry said that Camilla’s willingness to engage with the British press made her “dangerous” and that “there would be bodies on the street because of it.”
