BT Sport presenter Des Kelly asks Ilkay Gundogan for an autograph on live TV after Manchester beat Inter Milan to win the Champions League and secure the treble
BT Sport presenter Des Kelly asked Ilkay Gundogan for an autograph on live TV after Manchester City beat Inter Milan to win the Champions League.
Man City defeated Inter 1-0 in the final thanks to Rodri’s goal in the 68th minute of the match at Istanbul’s Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
Kelly caught up with Gundogan shortly after lifting the trophy and discussed the match as the players made their way around the edge of the field for a victory lap.
The BT Sport presenter asked Gundogan several questions before taking off his media armband and reaching for a pen in his pocket at the end of the interview.
The Manchester City captain looked a little confused before Kelly asked if he could sign his armband to silence Twitter critics.

Kelly smiled at Gundogan and said, “Can you sign this bracelet?” “Because I get a lot of criticism on Twitter for wearing it.”
He continued, “I have to wear that to go on the field, but everyone thinks I’m the new John Terry or something.”
Gundogan couldn’t help but laugh before picking up the pen and signing the bracelet. Kelly was delighted and said, “This is a memento that I will keep forever.”
However, fans were not as accepting as Gundogan. They took to social media to criticize the BT Sport presenter.
One fan wrote, “Des Kelly asking for an autograph in the middle of an interview is pure cringe. You’re a professional on live television, just do your job.’
Another added, “Des Kelly asking for an autograph on live television is so embarrassing and, dare I say, unprofessional.”
While one fan wrote: ‘Another appalling performance from BT Sport. Jake Humphrey admits live they paid Balotelli thousands, Rio says ‘good luck’ to Grealish after winning the treble and now Des Kelly is getting an autograph live.
“Fans deserve better football coverage.”
Another said, “Des Kelly just asked for an autograph on the air. We should immediately strip BT of all sports rights.’
However, Kelly took to Twitter shortly after to reveal that the bracelet would be auctioned online for Royal National College For The Blind.
He said: ‘The bracelet kindly signed on TV tonight by Man City’s Treble-winning captain İlkay Gundogan will be auctioned online for Royal National College For The Blind. Details will follow soon.’
